Number of Species Recorded
per 10km Square:

Clicking on the link below  brings up a table showing the 10km squares within the county which have been well recorded and those requiring substantially increased coverage. The number of species of moth recorded in Lancashire on the 1st January 2008 was 1,490. This demonstrates how far we have to go even in the relatively well recorded squares. To work out which 10km squares are covered by the Vice Counties (VCs) 59 & 60 click on "Recording Area" above.

Moth Matrix:

The Lancashire 10km square Matrix (produced and updated by Kevin McCabe) covers every moth species recorded in Lancashire.  The Matrix has been updated to contain all known records up to and including 31st December 2006.

Click on the species name (if coloured blue) to see a distribution map at 2km or 10km square level produced using MAPMATE.  A red dot or cross on the map denotes the species was last recorded prior to the year 2000. Black dots denote a record sometime between 2000-2006. Changes will be made to the maps and the matrix on an annual basis.
